December 2022 Chamber Chatter

The holiday season is finally here! What a wonderful time of year. This is the time we all take a moment (after we finish shopping, of course) to enjoy family and friends.

While you’re out shopping, remember to support your local small businesses and be the person the entire family is envious of because you found the most unique gift items that you can’t find at the big box stores.

I won’t take much of your time this month, I just wanted to extend my warmest regards to you and yours this holiday season and wish you a fantastic start to 2023.

Hope to see you around the community!

Lake of the Woods Santa Run

December 16, 17 & 18

Santa Claus to Visit Lake of the Woods

Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company, Inc.

If you think that Santa only travels by a sleigh pulled by reindeer, you may be surprised if you visit Eastern Orange County this year. The Lake of the Woods Volunteer Fire & Rescue (LOWVFR) Company will once again be hosting this special guest as part of our annual visit from Santa Claus on December 16th, 17th, and 18th.

Santa has partnered with local volunteers to visit the various residents, and businesses, located in the Locust Grove, Germanna and Wilderness areas of Eastern Orange County from atop Engine 29. Since this is a large vehicle to maneuver, Santa will be staying on the main roads and will follow along

behind a lead vehicle to allow community members, and visitors, to safely make their way to the viewing areas.

“Because of his busy schedule and to keep all our friends in the community safe, Santa will be unable to stop and take pictures,” said Fire Chief Mike Cianci. “Don’t worry though Santa and our team of dedicated volunteers have developed a route that will allow for the most efficient way to pass by and give you a big, jolly hello!”

The following schedule may change due to weather or calls for service:

• Friday, December 16th – Starting at 5 p.m. the procession will be from the LOW Front Gate to Confederate Drive on the marina side of the lake, then to along Route 3 to the Sheetz, Food Lion and ending at the Walmart parking lot.

• Saturday, December 17th – Starting at 5 p.m. the procession will be from Confederate Circle to the Front Gate on the golf course side then along Route 3 to Sheetz, Food Lion and ending at the Walmart parking lot.

• Sunday, December 18th – Starting at 5 p.m. one trip around Lakeview Parkway then to Rapidan Drive, Wilderness Shores, and Somerset subdivisions, then along Route 3 to Sheetz, Food Lion and ending at the Walmart parking lot.

If you can’t make it in person, you may also follow Santa each of these nights via our webpage: http://lowfr29.com

We hope that this holiday tradition continues to help make your holiday a little merrier; however, LOWVFR does regret that we will not be able to continue all our holiday traditions this year. Due to a large price increase coupled with an overall shortage of available trees, LOWVFR will not be able to sell Christmas trees this year.

The LOWVFR appreciates the support of the community and the donations that keep the department operating safely and effectively. To donate via our website or Facebook page; we also accept cash, check, or PayPal. All funds donated are tax deductible and go to assisting our members with maintaining their certifications to assist our community.

The Lake of the Woods Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company responded to 820 calls for service in 2021 and serves the various residents, commercial businesses, houses of worship and academic institutions located in the Locust Grove, Germanna and Wilderness areas of Eastern Orange County along Route 3 and Route 20.
