Greg Dudley opened Community Mortgage in 1998 with a friend on Main St. Gordonsville, VA. In the late 2000's housing crash and new government regulations, it became clear to me that I needed to be with a larger company who could handle the compliance part of our business. After about 18 months of searching, I found ALCOVA Mortgage. I joined Alcova Mortgage in June of 2010. They have really been a blessing to me. They have the most helpful employees, and they are large enough to have separate departments for marketing, compliance, payroll, pricing, underwriting, loan processing and they even have their own scenario desk, which is my favorite. Starting as a one-man shop and moving to a company like this has allowed me to concentrate on helping my clients and it's made my life much easier. Two years ago, I talked my daughter Crystal into moving from San Diego to join me. She already had her loan officer license, but couldn't find a company she was comfortable with. She's been a blessing as well. I then traded one of the rental properties with my brother who owned the old dry-cleaning building in Orange. It took a year or so to renovate it, but we finally finished and moved in March of 2021. We absolutely love it here. People have been so welcoming. Earlier this year, we had two artists paint our "Greetings from Orange" sign on the side of our building. Most of it was done with spray paint. The community feedback has been wonderful. We've had lots of people even stop by and take pictures. This has been such a rewarding business by helping people purchase their first home (or dream home), become debt free, lower their monthly payments, or stay in their home with a reverse mortgage.
